President, Tingerthal Group, LLC

Mary Tingerthal served as Commissioner of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency from 2011 to 2019. For the past five years, she has led the Tingerthal Group LLC, which provides consulting services to public and private organizations working to increase the availability and sustainability of housing that is affordable to low and moderate-income families.

Clients include RISE Modular, Abt Associates, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, National Council of State Housing Agencies and the McKnight Foundation. In 2019, Tingerthal founded Construction Revolution, a cross-sector collaboration to reduce the cost of housing by creating an innovation hub for effective offsite construction.

Mary’s career includes numerous leadership positions in the real estate finance sector, with a focus on affordable housing. She led the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and the National Equity Fund, and held senior positions at GMAC Residential Funding, the Housing Partnership Network and Community Reinvestment Fund.

Mary serves as chair of the board for NHT Communities (including its sustainability subsidiary), and also serves on the board of the F.R. Bigelow Foundation. Mary served as a member of the Community Advisory Council to the Federal Reserve Board and the Affordable Housing Advisory Council to Fannie Mae. She previously served as chair of the boards of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and of CommonBond Housing.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Business from Stanford Graduate School of Business, attending as a Sloan Fellow and as a Bush Fellow, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota.
